What the Experts Say About Us
NY Times, Sophisticated Traveler Magazine:
"The steady susurrus of the waves only yards away, an informal book filled sitting room positioned with a view over the broad beach, 12 rattan furnished bedrooms....What a bonus to find them in the middle of San Juan at the Numero Uno Guest House."
NY Times, Travel Section:
"Pamela's is right on the beach at the Numero Uno Guest House. Popular at lunch, Pamela's serves a Caribbean menu that includes a sandwich of marinated chicken and melted Manchego cheese and roasted red peppers, an entree of grilled Jamaican jerk shrimp and coconut corn arepa, with tamarind barbecue sauce and guava coulis. There is air-conditioning but there are also tables outside on the beach."
Caribbean Travel & Life:
"Take a break to make dinner reservations at Pamela's Restaurant in the Numero Uno Guest House on Santa Ana Street. Pamela's seaside setting and fabulous Caribbean fusion menu have been a closely guarded insider secret for years"

Travel Holiday Magazine:
Winner of 1998 Insider Award: "1 of the 50 best kept travel secrets in the world" "At Numero Uno you can't help gloating as you bask on a gorgeous stretch of San Juan sand. Frommer's Travel Magazine:
"If you are looking for peace and quite, one spot is so lovely it merits a special mention. Numero Uno Guest House is located in a 1950's beach house. This sparkling inn greets you with a cobblestone patio graced by a teal blue pool. A handful of tables overlooking the beach are part of the superb Pamela's Caribbean Cuisine. The recently renovated rooms boast amenities you might not expect, like a mini bar and high speed internet access. The included continental breakfast goes beyond the call of duty with selection of fresh fruit and baked goods."
New York Post:
"We spent two nights at the lovely and low key Numero Uno Guest House, which had the feel of a New England B&B - but one with a gourmet restaurant, Pamela's Caribbean Cuisine. After tearing ourselves away from Numero Uno's incredible beach we headed out by rental car to Fajardo. "
Travel + Leisure Magazine:
"If you are wondering where to stay, Numero Uno Guest House has a restaurant which serves tasty Caribbean fare and has rooms that are just steps from the beach."

What Our Guests Say About Us
On foders.com
Numero Uno is #1 in our book!
We love this place! We were there in 2000 and are planning a return trip this year. It was one of our most relaxing vacations ever. We loved the pool, loved the people, LOVED the pina coladas! The hotel is just the right size, the rooms are pretty & very clean, the service was great, it's literally right on the beach...what more could you ask for?

Our Yearly Get Away.
As many have said, I hate to rave about this place, as I am in fear that more people will learn about it. But I have to be fair. We travel to the Caribbean once a year and this March was our third time in staying at Numero Uno. We love the people and we love the location. It is just so relaxing and all the people that work there want you to just relax. I can't say enough about it as it is just wonderful. Worth every penny we spend there and met some great people from other parts of the world.

My husband and I came to Puerto Rico for the first time in 1996 and fell in love with Puerto Rico and Numero Uno. Not only did we find Caribbean's secret place, we also found what we now call "our second home." Big writers discovered the place, we came back this year to stay and it has renovated into a total oasis. Unfortunately, my husband and I cannot really afford their new prices now, but we still go anyway because of the same reasons others have said about Numero Uno. The balcony overlooking the ocean is a place you can sit and watch for hours, the service is excellent, the atmosphere day or night is truly romantic and the rooms really make you feel at home. We've stayed at first class hotels but have not found a "guesthouse" that offers "twice daily maid service!" (They folded our clothes piled up on our bed.) Now that's what you call vacation!

My husband and I stayed there in 1997 on our first vacation together when we were dating. And fell in love not only with one another but with Puerto Rico and Numero Uno on the beach. The atmosphere the service and the food were all excellent. We have since returned in 2000 to enjoy our honeymoon there. Much to our surprise the hotel improved even more. We still loved the atmosphere, the service and the food. It is simply perfect. Can't wait to return.

The Best Place to Stay in Puerto Rico.
We have stayed here many times and have always found this B & B to be nothing less than perfect. The whole place is so clean, you could eat off the floor and there is the best balcony to sit and look at the ocean for hours. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The restaurant is "5 star" in my book. We always eat most of our meals there. I can hardly wait to go back. It always feels like coming home.
